14/07/2015- A new publicación of the group has been accepted in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces in collaboration with the CIBER-BBN Research Group on Microbial Adhesion of the Universidad of Extremadura, titled “Bioinspired quercitrin nanocoatings: A fluorescence-based method for its surface quantification, and its effect on stem cell adhesion and differentiation to the osteoblastic lineage” by Córdoba, A.; Monjo, M.; Hierro-Oliva, M.; González-Martín, M.L.; Ramis, J.M. In this work, we report a fluorescence-based method for the quantification of nano amounts of flavonoids grafted onto surfaces, using a flavonoid-specific fluorescent probe. The method is sensitive, simple, rapid and easy to perform with routine fluorescence equipment, and could be applied to determine the surface coverage of other plant derived polyphenol-based coatings. Polyphenol-based coatings is a growing area of research, and these coatings have several potential applications in medicine and medical devices due to the multiple bioactive functionalities of these compounds.
